Current home sizes increasingly require multi-functional products such a sofa beds, which are perfect for guests passing through and essential for furnishing one-room apartments or duplexes. Molteni&C responds with OZ, designed by Nicola Gallizia, a product that from a real sofa is easily transformed into a comfortable bed. This transformation is also made possible with a brand new patented mechanism that is extremely easy to use thanks to special servomechanisms. In fact, during the conversion between its two forms not only is the bed pulled out but the lateral armrests also “magically" disappear under the frame, transforming the sofa into a real bed including only the headboard and backrest. The backrest also includes two positions enabling correct use depending on the desired function. Its exterior appearance is characterised by the use of innovative materials such as fabric quilted in a unique pattern, with coloured quilting contrasting the fabric used.
