InformationSCAGNUT
The Scagnut is a classical multi-purpose stool, to be found some time ago in all homes in Friuli, given a new twist with the design by Barbara Candoni and Sylva Gortana’s DAS 16.8. Aimed at a young, carefree, and independent target, it retains the eclectic spirit of its antecedent (in fact it can be a bench, stool, bedside table and - if rotated - a magazine holder), while the concept behind it is innovative. The Scagnut’s pure lines, made in solid oak by Karn, are highlighted by the hand grip system that becomes a real decorative feature: 5 circular holes that can be used to pick it up at the top with one hand, or separately with two hands. Similarly, the sides have 5 further holes that allow a different type of grip, making the unit easy to handle. A rod passes through the side holes, and can be chosen from various shades of lacquer. This is required for the stool’s static status, while also serving as an ergonomic footrest. An additional element available as an optional extra, can be used to combine a number of stools by means of the 4 holes left free, to create a bench with two, three, or an infinite number of modules. Optional extras also include a cushion, with ties that pass through the upper holes.
KARN looks at those who love articles with a strong emotional content, combined with a simple and elegant design. Articles that offer a perfect blend of essential functionality and pleasure of the senses, made of natural materials, with velvet-like, bare surfaces, stimulating the pleasure of touching, caressing, interacting with them.
