Païpaï is the first collection of upholstered seating we have designed for Cinna. It is a project which unfolded from a simple gesture : folding a piece of paper to create a closed shape. As in origami, from a flat surface we have designed simple fold lines ; first the one which separates the back from the seat, then the more obvious one for the armrests.
The two extremities of the back are folded towards the structure to which they are fixed. And thus a visibly comfortable cocoon seat is born. The folds mark the foam, shaping its contours and giving emphasis to the armrests, thus creating the identity of the settee, which was named after the Pai-Pai fan which itself has a characteristic rounded shape.
Comprising a three-seat settee, a love-seat and a footstool, the range is suitable for both contract and domestic use. The Païpaï collection was designed to offer the best possible seat comfort thanks to the height of the back and the judicious use of high-performance foams.
Paipaï is rendered super-soft with the use of ultra-flexible foam. Its armrest is highly technical: it is completely supple, one can sit on it, stretch out. It is made from a technical fabric, a composite on a felt backing, and finished in the lower section with a metal piece which links the armrest to the rest of the seat. This is where the notion of the fan comes in. This also gives a very taut appearance. The seat and back have an elastic-webbed suspension. The design is ultra-sleek, with nipped-in curves. The armrest and the unparalleled comfort make this a revolutionary product. The angled legs of the footstool are also a particularly sophisticated touch.
Construction – Settee and love seat: structure of seat and back in mechanically-soldered steel. Structure of armrest in technical fabric for flexibility. A sheet of steel forms the joint between seat and armrest. The screws are visible and make a nice aesthetic touch.
Making-up – Structure of back: 5 mm bourrelet stitch.
Removable covers in both fabric and leather.
Covering materials – Harald, Gandino, Match, Canvas, leather.
