“When we design, we favour uncomfortable destinations. If you are working on the basis of what you already know, it is probably that you will not arrive at anything new.” Marco Maturo and Alessio Roscini seek to change the functionality of objects and the way in which we are used to using them, paying particular attention to the associations of colours and materials.
The San stool is composed of three surfaces of curved multi-ply, two of which are symmetrical and form the base, and a third one for the seat. The warmth of the material used (oak or walnut) and the softness of its Japanese-inspired curves naturally bring about a sense of comfort. It was designed to be easily moved around an interior as required, for a chat with friends or an impromptu meal.
The San stool’s visual presence – at once strong and minimal – enables it to fit neatly into all rooms in the home.
Quality of manufacture
Stool in curved multi-ply clad in walnut veneer or ‘burnt wood-effect’ black-stained oak veneer and finished with natural varnish.
