While all design work is from Freifrau, it is carpet manufacturer Jan Kath who is responsible for production. Headquartered in the Ruhr city of Bochum, Kath has a dedicated process team managing all stages of sourcing and production at the company’s Nepalese contract workshops.
The carpets are made with nothing but the finest natural materials such as Tibetan wool, silk, and nettle fibres, handworked using techniques which go back millennia; with over 155,000 kpsm (knots per square metre), the four designs Nyima, Tenzin, Lahara, and Dawa are rendered like high-resolution digital photographs.
